I've come across and used quite a lot of neewer gear in the past; despite always looking and feeling budget driven, I've found they are really good at only cutting costs where they need to and make a product that is *useful* not flashy. This stand falls pretty much right in line with those observations. It's simple, but all components are metal unless they have a good reason not to be. Places where metal continuously pivots, like the leg struts, have soft bushings. The leg mount is a cast piece of metal, not stamped like I've frequently seen on cheap mic stands and the like. The final post is really beautifully machined.All of this combines into a really good tool at an appropriate price. It gets my recommendation.

When I think of compact light stands I think of stands that might not be able to handle much weight. This stand is very compact due to the reverse folding legs but much more robust than other stands I’ve owned this size.The legs are thick with large rubber feet.The lock that holds the feet in place is something I’ve never seen before. (See my photos.) it really locks the legs in place so they aren’t going anywhere.Pro tip: don’t open it up with one of the legs facing you like I did. It will whack you on the bridge of the nose. Like I did. 🤣I like Neewer. I own a bunch of their equipment. This is another solid product from them that I recommend.
