The NEEWER RGB 1200 60W LED Video Light has really opened my eyes to how useful barndoors are for lighting. There are times when I photograph, or film the subject, or scene, and want it lit with a defined amount of light, but don't want the area off to the sides of the subject or scene to be catching much of the light. Speedlights, reflectors, and softboxes often work for this purpose, but sometimes the falloff lighting line is too well defined and they can be time consuming to set up. Using the NEEWER RGB1200, I've discovered that I can better control the light falloff of the scene by simply positioning the barndoors on this light to be wide open (a lot of falloff - less defined line), or to be closed up some (less falloff - more defined line). Another benefit to using barndoors is that I can also better control where the light will bounce off of surrounding surfaces, which can also have an effect on filming and photography. I am so happy for the barndoor feature because using the barndoor technique will save me hours in an upcoming project.This RGB 1200 LED light exudes professional-grade quality, as does much of the NEEWER lineup of gear. This light is solidly built and comes with a diffuser, foam padded carrying case, AC power cord and AC to DC 15V-72W power adapter, plus a small manual in several languages. So far, I've been trying it out with the included AC power adapter, but this light will also work on batteries, 1 to 2 NP-F750 and NP-970 rechargeable batteries. The batteries, along with its "U" shaped mount/handle, make this a great option for in-motion portability, which will be very useful for my next project. This is a precision colour light with a tool chest of features. There are 3 modes of operation to work with - CCT, HSI, and FX modes. There are 18 special effects to work with, which are useful for filming.One of the coolest things is the very good NEEWER app. Using the app makes controlling the light's settings a breeze. You can also use the app to capture the surrounding light that your phone's camera sees, so that the NEEWER light will match it. And yet another very cool feature of the app is that you can use your phone to record a light sequence (Eg. Flashing orange light) and the light will emulate it - very cool!The NEEWER RGB1200 6OW LED Light is a fine, precision, professional tool for photographers and filmmakers (hobbyists and professionals) with a lot of features for creativity. It’s an easy 5 out of 5 stars from me!

The separate control of brightness and colour temperature has made it very easy to match the output of this light to ambient or other light sources. The brightness is important for lighting the blue or green chroma key screen while the full RGB spectrum will be useful when I need to throw a splash of colour on a backdrop. While I don't expect to use the FX features very often, it is nice to have that option.
