This LS-51 macro probe lens from NEEWER is not (needed) for the everyday, casual photographer. But if you want a one-of-a-kind video/camera angle that gets up close and personal with your subjects, this is that indispensable tool.Video shows the probe lens "probing" die-cast cars, the included bracket, and through the books on my bookshelf.I was surprised that the package actually came with a well-thought out carrying/storage case specifically made for this lens. The build quality of the lens is superb and it is well-balanced while attached to the phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max was used).- I recommend mounting this lens on a phone case designed for photography that has a fixed lens mount, just to eliminate any accidental dislodging from a snap-on mounting plate- It's 100% compatible with any 17mm threaded opening, and will stay on securely- You can also use the included supporting bracket (with 1/4" and 3/8" threads) to mount this on a camera dolly or rail system to stabilize and create smoother footages- The U-shape bridge on the lens shown in these pictures can act as a support to help stabilize the to/fro movement- The lens is roughly 14" long (i.e. max probing depth) with an 18mm 2X wide angle lens at the end- You can recharge the 60 mAh battery on board that powers the LED lights around the lens (2 brightness modes)- Mount this on the main lens of your phone, disable macro control on the phone app, and manually fine-tune the focusI do a lot of amateur close up photography, but didn't think I needed a probe lens until I started using it. It adds a new dimension to the visual experience and story-telling by providing a unique perspective. It's a powerful tool to have.

It works very well for the price. The light on it is not enough you have to add light and use a slider and make a scene. You have to manually focus. But then it’s fun! Will be great for b-roll.

This is a very solid build macro probe that can be used to point to where that difficult to reach by a cell phone, for example, very narrow gaps, behind leaves, or under the water. It is only used for cell phone.It has a full metal build and coated black. It feels solid and robust. There is a focus ring in the middle that you can fine tune it to focus on what you want to take photo. There is a ring of LED lights at the tip that can illuminate the object for photograph. There a power button to turn on and adjust the LED illumination.The macro probe comes with a mounting stand that can be used with a standard tripod that has a ¼ screw. In addition, it comes with a robust hard-shell case to protect the macro probe.

This 18mm 2x macro probe lens from brand NEEWER is unique, and I think there is only one other similar option out there designed for full-sized mirrorless cameras, at a substantially higher price point. This lens setup is probably the best choice for mobile macro photo or video recording with a phone right now, offering 2x magnification and a 17mm thread which is the mobile standard. It captures detailed shots of small objects, like jewelry or insects, and allows me to create really unique video footage as well. So far, image quality is crisp, with minimal distortion.I paired this lens with my iPhone 14 Pro Max, and I only wish I had ordered a camera cage or something with the option to attach lenses to it, back when I first got this phone, because finding a compatible case with a 17mm thread was definitely a challenge, but it was worth it for the stunning macro shots.But that is neither here nor there, since there are newer generations of iPhones and other mobile devices out, all with 17mm thread cages or cases, so that has nothing to do with the product in general. This is definitely fantastic for what it is, and if you need a unique lens like this for your mobile setup, then just get it. There are few others out there like it. 5 stars.

My phone is 2 generations old, and Marco images have been very difficult to get my phone to do, its often blurry and the auto focus does not work unless I’m away sufficiently far that its no longer a macro photo. I typically need the use of macro photos for part numbers, so blurry is not good. I do have an SLR that I have been using, but having to pack that up is not super convenient. I saw this and thought I would try it out.This is packaged up nicely, it does have a charge for the light (which does make a difference) so its safe to leave in my vehicle until it is needed.The ability to manually focus makes a world of difference for my needs.

I do quite a bit of photography, however, I'm new to this game of using a Probe-Lens although I've been reading about it ever since the first commercial unit for smartphones became available.Neewer products have become synonymous with high-quality at a budget, and this 18mm 2X Macro Probe Lens is no different in carrying on that legacy.Build quality is excellent, and it works!Focus and clarity is spot-on. The 17mm thread fits correctly.Comes in a nice strong carry/storage-case.

It has a 17mm threading on the rear, so you'll need to find a way to adapt that to your phone if you intend to use it that way. I don't have a threading on my phone, so I have to hold it up to the lens and hope it doesn't scratch anything. I was under the impression it was going to come with an adapter or something to clip it to the phone, but I was wrong.It has LED's, and is rechargeable, so you can drop this into a poorly lit area and still see what you're doing.The lens quality is pretty good, but that's also going to depend on the phone you're using.Overall a neat tool.

The pictures you see with my review is taken by my Z fold 5 with this Macro lens, which takes beautiful high resolution pictures. It takes less than 2 minutes to prepare your camera to take some amazing pictures from close distance. As you see, this lens has a super bright flashlight, and you can charge it with Type C and the cord is included.
