NEEWER ST100 Overhead Camera Mount Rig

I am a painter and I record myself painting for promotional and reminders of materials and techniques. I use a webcam for videoing, which is excellent quality, and although it took me a bit to figure out, now I have it mounted directly to the rig. I leave it in place permanently, as I paint most every day. It's extremely sturdy (though my art table is wonky) and allows me to paint a piece up to 36" wide and film it at the same time. My painting style is very watery, so i can't film any way but top down or from the side. This allows me to do both.Surprisingly, it's not really even in the way. My art table is devoted only to painting and the two 'feet' at the bottom are not hugely wide, so they are fine to me. If you want to do top-down painting videos, and have the space for a permanent rig, I'd highly this one. I consider it an investment in my art.

this stand is huge, absolutely stable and ready for whatever you want to clamp onto it. I was eyeballing this and one other stand and went with this after comparing the size and everything else I could.

There are only two cons I can think of with this one:
one, the entire frame has to be adjusted and messed with if you need to adjust the height, instead of simply moving the top crossbar (which is how the other product I looked at works). That's a bit awkward. But if you use it for overhead video, you can just attach your camera to something else that allows you to adjust height - look a gooseneck mount - and then attack that to this.

two, by the same token, it is cumbersome to take apart for storage (though once it is apart you can store it flat somewhere, like behind your door or under your bed, easily). I leave this set up and leave it alone.

if you're handy you can also modify it to have more holes and go wild attaching things. camera, lights, microphone, whatever you like. I bought led bar lights that stick on and this frame accommodates their size because it's huge.

either way this works great and actually my camera is so wide-angled that I don't even need to raise it up high, so there's plenty of use cases I can use this for as I grow my content later. Awesome tool Neewer.

Product looks well made and is easy to use. For me it is a time safer you put it complet away and set it up in a very short time. The only downside is maybe the price, but for the rest happy with it.

This Neewer Overhead Camera Mount Rig is exactly what I was looking and offers solid value for the price. If you are looking for something that breaks down quickly when not in use, this may not be the ideal choice for you if you are tight on space. In the case that you don’t need to break it down often or you have a dedicated space, you will like it. Just to be clear, if it needs to be disassembled, it won't be hard. When it is assembled, it is sturdy, but not too heavy. So far it has easily handled small to large mirrorless cameras with small prime to heavy telephoto lenses without buckling. I have left a camera rig attached overnight before recording and it held up just fine.In the box you receive the crossbar(the top), the rods (or legs), clips for a potential backdrop, frames (for a backdrop), and the needed screws that go the frames and the main mounting portion for your camera. Installation was easy and adjustments can be made without much fuss. Overall I like the build quality and consistency from Neewer products.

Yet another banger from Neewer - I was going to build one of these, like Casey Neistat did back in the day, but now I don't have to. This stand goes together fast, is easily adjustable, and is very sturdy. I have no qualms about mounting heavy cameras and lights on this thing, and I love the fact that you can clamp just about anything to the back to create a table top cyclorama - super handy for product photos. Recommended!

The intended method to mount the accessories like lights and microphones is to use some super clamps that you will need to source indecently. I think adding a couple of 1/4-20 screws could improve the versatility significantly. I'll most probably go to the hardware store and buy some 1 3/4 long screws and some thumb screws to fit with it, this would let me mount my lights ball heads directly to the frame. That is not a big deal, but a couple of screws an extra bracket could complete the setup with a clean look.The mount is sturdy with minor quality issues. One of the spring-loaded pins does not get out enough and does not lock in place. I had to clean out the paint around the hole, so it could pop out completely. The Tube boot on one side keeps falling. Other than that, the finish is good, and the welds are well-made, pretty solid for the intended use.The camera is easy to mount, I may use an Arca Swiss QR plate to accelerate the process as my camera won't stay there all day long.Overall, it does the job nicely, with some extra accessories to complete the lighting.
