Features

  • No Assembly Needed- Neewer X14 Teleprompter lets you read every word of your script fluidly while keeping eye contact with your audience all the time—whether you are delivering a speech, giving an online course, or recording a tutorial. The integrated design makes X14 ready to use when taken out of the box and requires no assembly at all
  • App Remote Control- Pair the RT-110 remote (included) with your smartphone inside our NEEWER Teleprompter App via Bluetooth connection, then you can pause, speed up and down, and turn pages of your script with a few clicks. The App is available in major app stores for free and is compatible with iOS 11.0/Android 6.0 or later. Note: The remote control needs to be linked IN THE APP instead of linking it directly via Bluetooth of your smartphone or tablet.
  • Clear Beam Splitter- With 75% light transmittance, the 14” HD clear beam splitter glass can reflect your scripts clearly, and allow you to read them confidently. The glass frame can tilt at 135° for optimal viewing angles. The reading range is 10’ (3m)
  • Foldable Structure- X14 can fold flat for storage and transportation. The robust and wrinkle-resistant polyester drawstring hood can block light from coming into your camera and stay taut via the inner magnetic rods. A rugged carrying case with foam pads protects the X14 and keeps it portable
  • Wide Compatibility- DSLR cameras, mirrorless cameras, and camcorders can attach to the X14 via a standard 1/4" mounting screw. Designed for tablets and phones up to 8.7” (22.1cm) wide, the expandable holder is compatible with 12.9” iPad Pro, 11” iPad Pro, iPad, iPad mini, and more

This teleprompter has made my talking to camera roles so much easier. It comes in a nice attache case that everything packs down into for storage when not being needed. There is a remote control included but it only works with iPads or Android tablets. I have a Microsoft Surface Pro so I used a Logitech R800 presenter remote instead. You can usually program different buttons for different functions within the teleprompter software, and the free one I got from the Windows store allowed any buttons to be linked to whatever functions. I had mine set up for stop / start / rewind and adjust speed, but it could be programmed for other functions. The unit is easy to set up. The tray comes out just over 20cm so was deep enough to take my Surface Pro 5, and should work with other regular sized tablets like iPads and Galaxy Tabs. There is a movable arm on each side which you can use for attaching lights or microphones on either the tripod mount or a cold show mount, although since the tripod mount has a female threaded fitting and most lights and microphone mounts also have a female threaded fitting, it would have been good if they'd included a male-male adapter as I had no way of attaching any of my devices to these arms.Underneath there are many tripod mounting screw positions of two different sizes to make it easy to position it correctly on your tripod. The hood on the back of the glass ties nicely around the lens on my Nikon DSLR and there are no reflections during use. The lens on my camera sat pretty low behind the screen, which means when I'm looking at the centre of the glass it appeared as though I was looking slightly above the camera. It would be good if it could be adjustable in height so you can position the lens in the centre of the glass.Overall very happy with this purchase.

Neewer has come a long way, and this feels like a well made and well engineered product for a good price. The way it folds for storage is great, and it works as well as my work teleprompter which cost considerably more. The frame is solid, and well balanced. I have no use for the remote control, so can't comment on that, but the teleprompter itself is excellent.

My friends and colleagues that work in Media make fun of the way I used my tablet to act as a teleprompter. I have been struggling to hold it under my camera for a while with so-so resultsNEEWER is brand I have learned to trust for camera rigs and accessories and below are my first comments about their X14 teleprompter.*** The good 👍 (see the video and pictures)✔ Mirror: The glass mirror is 1- Thick glass, 2- beautifully reflective, yet one-way see-through✔ Software: The NEEWER software works flawlessly with or without the remote. Most of the settings show maturity in the software features.✔ Wide compatibility - Tablet: The rails are well designed and can hold my rugged iPad without the need to take it out of its protective case.✔ Wide compatibility - Camera: The camera rail can provide to cameras much larger than mine, and the blackout skirt can fit around very large objectives.*** The so-so 👎✘ Nothing. This is as close as perfect as I know for a teleprompter.*** 👉 Other comments / Heads-up✅ Storage: The carrying case in itself is robust and feels it can really take a beating. If you have trouble putting the telepronpter back in the case, wath the begining of the video, I know I had to do it. hahaha.Verdict: 100% recommended. This is a teleprompter you will buy and keep for many years.

Neewer makes both the X14 and X14 Pro Teleprompters, which are pretty similar, nice product with subtle differences. I will highlight the cases where there is such a difference.Transport case: The teleprompter comes with a carrying case with fitted foam. The fit is good, but there is not much loose.Compatibility with QR plate: If you want to install a Quick Release plate under the teleprompter, you will need to remove it for storage. There are many 1/4 and 3/8 holes that are spaced 15 mm apart (30 mm between same sizes), my 70 mm Arca plate can use 2 screws. Quick Release base may be left in place depending on the location and careful placement of the ropes. Please note that my Arca QR baseplate has the knob hitting the teleprompter plate, which is 70 mm wide.Fabric tent: The black fabric cuts most lights, excepts around the hinges, you need to adjust it a little better, it may require some fiddling with tweezer to place it correctly. It opens correctly, and once you get used to the magnet, it works OK. For my camcorder, I had to 3D print a lens shade to wrap the fabric over it. Even with a small lens shade it works nicely, a bigger lens shade will be easier to seal and will hold the fabric.Tripod mounting option: You got many screws, that gives you more range to balance weight compared to the X14 Pro. This is useful if you have a heavier camera gear.Camera mounting option: The 1/4 screw slide all the length of the plate which is 70 mm with rubber grip. It works correctly. The access to the screw has some restrictions because of the extended baseplate. The X14 Pro provide easier access to the screws.Screen/tablet mounting: Sliding a large clamp and screwing 2 screws does the job. It does NOT fit my 15.6 mobile screen, I will not be able to use my laptop to drive the text or PowerPoints. Different from the X14 Pro, the X14 has a Wider 82 mm plate that accommodate narrower tablets, around 21.5 cm, this is less than the description.Accessories mounting: The X14 has a more versatile way of installing lights or microphones. Two independent arms slides out and can be adjusted independently. The same screws are used to both secure the tablet and lock the arm adjustment.Setup time: Fast, unfold with some screws to set up. A little bit slower than the X14 Pro, but it is only a matter of minutes.Remote: Remote only works with the app. The basic functionality of the app is good. The doc/docx import is a pain, and the cloud is limited to the app, no web access from PC. The cloud is using an alphanumerical password, this is considered weak security by current standards.Overall, it is a good teleprompter, although I prefer the X14 Pro for my use case and needs. I would choose the X14 if my screen was narrower than 21.5 cm (or use a tablet) and that I wish to get a more compact setup with the lights mounted on the teleprompter for mobility. I would also choose it If I get a heavy professional camcorder that would need to be balanced for weight, in which case I would find a screen that fits in.
