NEEWER Z3R 100Ws 2.4G TTL Round Head Flash Speedlite for Canon/Nikon/Sony/Fujifilm

This Neewer round head flash is one of the best flashes I have used so far. I have used it on a Sony A7RV as main flash for photography and it has done a great job. It seems to be built with good quality materials .. does not look like a cheap flash at all.The touch screen on the flash is very responsive to the touch and makes it easy to change the flash mode to TTL or M etc. There is a button on the side too that can be used to change the mode to M or TTL. Also, the flash power can be changed from touch screen. The screen is pretty bright and easily readable even in broad daylight. I have used it in extreme cold temperature and had no issues at all.Another good thing is the modelling light. That is very helpful in low light situation when camera struggles to focus. With modelling light, it does not happen and camera can easily focus.Magnetic dome is also a very helpful thing. Using the dom gives a very nice fill light for portraits.Flash recycle time is very short and after a full power flash it gets ready for the next full power flash in less than a second. But just like any flash, as the battery gets used, the recycle time gets slightly longer. I cannot remember how many full power flashes it did on a full charge but it was quite a lot. Recycle time is much faster if the flash is not being used at 1/1 power. The flash is HSS enabled so you can use it at more than 1/250 shutter speed without any problem.The battery has a USB-C port and can be charged directly by using any charger with USB-C cable. It does not require any special charger.Its a little bigger than most flashes that I have used but then it provides more power in battery and has big bright LCD touch screen. As for the weight, I did not notice much difference comparing to the other Godox flashes I have.I have used it for over 4 weeks now and have had no issues at all. Definitely a 5 stars item.

I’ve been using generic third party speedlites for several years both on camera and off to learn lighting and take portraits. They work but they are underpowered and a little unreliable.This Neewer Z3R-C is a huge upgrade from those old speedlites. For starters it’s noticeably brighter, probably at least 20ws brighter. The head is also larger and I find the light spread to be quite nice. Of course it’s not a magic solution, it still needs practice and knowledge to light the subject properly but I’m able to take what I learned using the old speedlites and get good results with this.The touch screen menu is so intuitive. It’s bright and easy to read, I can see at a glance what settings I’m using and I can control the power of the light with a swipe of my finger, no fiddling with tiny buttons.The body is plastic but it feels sturdy. It is larger and heavier than my old speedlites but I’m using it on a full frame camera with a 24-70 lens so it doesn't feel unbalanced. The head moves around 360 degrees as well as up and down giving me lots of options for bouncing the light which I like to do when I’m moving around taking shots.There are two modeling lights. One dedicated light that turns on when the light is off camera and when it’s on camera the main strobe light is used. The brightness can be adjusted through the screen on the back. A modeling light is new to me and I’m learning how to use it for setting up shots and I can see the advantage of this.The flash zooms with the lens in increments from 28 to 105mm. It also provides autofocus assist which I realized my old lights didn’t. This could be useful but since I’m using this with event photography I turned it off in camera as it was distracting.The battery life and recycle time is good. I tend to shoot several shots at a time and the flash has fired every time. This is a huge improvement over my old AA battery powered speedlites that recycled slowly so I probably missed a quarter of my fast shots. The battery charges over USB-C which is nice and I’m able to charge it using an external battery pack. I can charge it in or out of the flash. Very handy but I think I’ll still order a second battery for some of the events I photograph.Finally in the box we get some accessories. A soft case, mounting foot, usb-c cable and a magnetic dome diffuser. The case is nice, it’s lined with a soft material and has a strap so I can attach it to my belt. The magnetic flash diffuser is nice, it clicks on and off really easily. I do wish there was a pocket in the case for the dome. I can't fit it in the case so it has to stay loose in my camera bag.This light is great and I’m already planning on buying extras for it. There is a whole set of magnetic accessories available that I’m going to order. There is also a flash trigger that is available for when I want to use it off camera, that’s already on my wish list. I’ll probably order a second battery before a big event I have at the end of the year. This Neewer speedlite is so good I can see myself replacing all my older speedites with these.

I've been shooting portraits seriously for several years and always felt my flash setup was the weakest link in my kit. Amazing upgrade over my SB-900. Its insanely intelligent and the modeling light is a game changer for party pics in dim venues. Really happy with this flash.

One of my favorite things about this flash is honestly the touchscreen. The menu is bright, easy to read, and way more intuitive than the button-heavy systems on older speedlites. I can quickly change settings with a swipe instead of fiddling around with tiny controls while trying not to miss a shot. When moving between setups or shooting events, that makes a surprisingly big difference.Battery performance has also been a huge upgrade compared to the older AA-powered flashes I have used for years. Recycle times are much faster, and I have been able to shoot multiple shots in a row without the flash falling behind. With my older lights, I definitely missed photos waiting for them to recharge between flashes. USB-C charging is another nice touch. I can charge it with a power bank and even charge the battery separately from the flash if needed.The actual light output is noticeably stronger, and the larger flash head gives a nicer spread of light too. I especially noticed the difference when bouncing light indoors. It still takes practice to properly light a subject of course, but the flash itself gives me much better results to work with.The body is made of plastic, though it still feels sturdy and well built. It is larger and heavier than my old flashes, but once mounted on my full-frame camera with a 24-70 lens, the weight feels balanced enough. The head rotates fully and tilts in multiple directions, which gives a lot of flexibility when bouncing flash around a room.I have also been experimenting with the modeling light feature since this is the first flash I have owned with one built in. You can adjust the brightness directly through the touchscreen, and depending on whether the flash is on or off camera, it behaves a little differently. I am still getting used to it, but I can already tell it will be useful for setting up lighting before shooting.There are some smaller features that I appreciated too. The flash automatically zooms with the lens between 28mm and 105mm, and it includes autofocus assist. I actually disabled the autofocus assist during event work because it became distracting, but it could definitely help in darker situations.The included accessories are pretty solid as well. You get a carrying case, mounting foot, USB-C cable, and a magnetic dome diffuser. The diffuser snaps on and off very easily, which is convenient when moving quickly between shots. The case feels nicely padded too, although I do wish it had a small pocket for storing the diffuser instead of leaving it loose in my camera bag.Overall, this flash has impressed me a lot more than expected. I am already planning to buy extra accessories and probably another battery before a larger event later this year. At this point, I can easily see myself slowly replacing all my older speedlites with these instead.

I switched to this flash after using a basic Godox unit that worked fine but lacked the Sony-specific TTL integration I wanted. The Z3R-S speaks the Sony language properly and it shows in the results.
