Professional performance, without breaking the bank, truly. I bought this before shooting a wedding, best decision I ever made. I had this propped up on a stand bouncing off the ceiling of the venue all night. Had all the power I needed to get good lighting throughout most of the large reception area. Battery life was incredible, lasted all day. 4 star for versatility as it's still heavy, but it's design is superb. Great investment.

I purchased 3 of these lights with extra battery packs. My intent is to use them for traveling creating an on location technical studio. The light output is fantastic and the batteries last a long time, I think it was about two full days with modeling lights on of about 300 images before I changed the batteries out. With the batteries lasting so long it has plenty of time to recharge the back ups before I need them again. I can't say enough how happy I am with these. However you will need better softbox/diffusers setup.

With every piece of gear that I get from NEEWER, I’m more and more impressed. This strobe flash is very powerful, with a long-lasting battery. It’s quite heavy, so it needs to be on a stand on its own. I’m just getting into studio/flash photography, so it’s been a great piece of equipment to add to my kit, and I’ve been doing a lot of experimenting to learn how to use it – there is a bit of a learning curve to using this well if you have no experience with it, but I’ve been getting some very good results. The manual is very helpful.

This flash is intense. The brightness is very intense and I was pretty excited to play with it outdoors and while we've been having somewhat gloomy days lately, it really did live up to the "overpower the sun" marketing and I was able to get a properly exposed subject in front of an underexposed background in broad daylight.During my time playing with this outdoors, I was happy with how fast the recycle time was. Even at full power, it wouldn't take more than a second.The capacity of the flash is quite good. It's supposedly good for 400 full power flashes and while I didn't stress test the claim, based on my usage, it seems plausible.

The Neewer Q4 and its included components is one impressive lighting kit. Working alone I try to minimize how many cases I have to bring along for location work but for this specific product the case they provide makes total sense. The long flat format is preferable to a boxy container. The interior cavities are really obvious as to what part goes where and nothing needed shoving to get it to fit back in where it belongs.The main unit is about 4½ times the weight of a traditional speedlite that would mount on a camera shoe. It is as thick and high and about 2½ as wide. I can only imagine this on a proper light stand. The handle/mount is heavy duty and all the surfaces are skinned with a velvety rubber. That adds comfort and security when gripping it. The receiver for a light stand spigot allows for vertical and horizontal connections. The 1/4" threaded mount features 2 pins to locate the handle to the bottom of the light. I found those pins to be essential since turning the thumb wheel alone finger tight was not enough to keep it from turning.The battery was showing 1 of 4 bars so charging it was one of the first things to do. The instructions are explicit about how to care for the battery. The estimated time for a full recharge is printed as 3 hours and that is what it took in my case.The size of the Q4 means the controls are given space apart and large enough to be easy to operate. They are not backlit but it didn't take much repetition for me to be pressing the correct button. I managed to get the Q4 firing off at different power fractions in not time without referring to the instructions at all. The rest of the details like getting it set for Slave mode are easy to access from the menu screen. The response of the changes was how I like it in terms of speed and not suddenly increasing in speed as I moved the control wheel. Getting the values I wanted could be done with out hunting back and forth as happens with twitchy control systems.The main flash emitter is no problem to insert and remove. There are no buttons or latches. It stays put with the friction of the three contact pins which are sturdy. The clear outer shell is strong too.The Bowens mount is very smooth and accepted several of my reflectors and soft boxes readily.So far I do my flash shooting in Manual mode so for now, getting the Q4 into Manual mode and S1 (Slave) to detect the flash from a separate speedlite set off from the camera is workable for me. I will consider the extended features soon.

Real quick review words as the good stuff is listed in the ad. Everything about this scream the best of the best. It's Solid! Really nice protective carry case and everything required to get it setup in your existing QPRO flash network. The model light is great. Easy to use interface.The price has dropped a little bit since time of order so keep an eye on drops and coupons! The way that you can dynamically set flash times/delays for the perfect composition is really top shelf. The diffusion reflector is not included, just shown in the images. With the huge battery and tripod mount this is a perfect portable companion too! Super, 5 stars!
