    Flash is powerful. However, it needs to be disperse on an object. With no flash, anything that I photograph comes out too dark. If I boost the ISO, I introduce more noise to my photos. It's definitely a hard balancing act.I took 3 pictures: 1 picture was with this diffuser and flash, 1 picture was with no flash and 1 picture with flash and no diffuser. The one with no flash was too dark. The one with flash and no diffuser, the light was too concentrated in the middle. The one with this diffuser was the best picture.This diffuser is so easy to use. The hook and loop fastener system is so easy to use. The connection is secure.

    I love these 8"x11" speedlight softboxes. They're so versatile and easy to take out whenever you need that they're kind of a no brainer piece of kit, especially if you're doing small table top product photography.The entire thing comes in a small zippered pouch. To use it, just take it out, unfold it, and you're good to go. No assembly required.Installing the softbox onto my speedlight is simple, and it fits virutally every speedlight I own and have ever used. The collar has rubber grip stuff to stay attached to the front of the speedlight, while the velcro strap wraps around to secure the attachment. Simple. Effective.Once installed it does tend to droop down just a tad, but not so much that it obscures the lens or interferes with my shooting when I'm using it on-camera.There's also an internal diffuser that you can unfold, so don't forget to check that out since its hidden inside the softbox itself.Overall its well made and allows me to achieve a wide range of lighting options when I'm shooting small.RECOMMENDED.

    It is going to be SO NICE to shoot in places around the house that aren't the studio without relying on ambient light or having everything default to a paparazzi aesthetic.To test my new toy, I took a bright white object topped with a medium-dark very detailed object and put them in a dark corner. The result was exactly what I'd hoped for: moody lighting from a flash.The structure of the box itself is great as well. Sturdy frame, good quality fabric, heavy-duty elastic. I had no issues getting this on and off the speedlite or concerns about it not staying put.Another in the Win column for Neewer.

    I got this NEEWER flash diffuser to put on my Nikon SB-900 flash, and it fits perfectly. It fits snugly on the flash, with rubberized strips and a velcro strap to keep it very securely in place, so there's no danger of it falling off. The diffusion provides a significant amount of softening to the light, whether you have the flash on camera or off camera.A few notes:- If your flash has a built-in AF assist illuminator, like my Nikon SB-900 does, you can't use it with the diffuser attached because the diffuser blocks the red light panel on the front of the flash. This is just a trade-off of using a diffuser, there's no way around this problem. I just turn the setting off in my camera menu.- This diffuser works best if you set your flash to its widest zoom setting so it illuminates the entire face of the diffuser. If your flash is set to a long zoom setting, it only illuminates the center and the diffusion effect is reduced.- There is a small diffusion flap tucked inside the diffuser with velcro on one side (and corresponding velcro straps inside the diffuser) so you can either fasten it out of the way or fasten it just in front of the flash bulb to provide an extra layer of diffusion and an even softer light source. There is a small but noticeable difference in the quality of light when using this extra diffusion flap.- The diffuser comes with a zippered nylon storage case to protect it when not in use, which is a nice feature.If you're a flash user and want an easy and effective way to soften the harsh light that flash provides, this NEEWER diffuser is a worthy investment and a great value for money. It's a very welcome addition to my photography toolkit and I would recommend it.
